Job description
Overview

Taylor Root is working with a distributor and merchant of building products. They're looking to take on an Interim Senior Legal Counsel, who can be with them from October for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

This is a role which is providing general corporate and commercial legal support across the UK business.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial contracts;
  • Developing contract templates and policy documents and keeping these up to date;
  • Providing timely and accurate legal advice and support to the business on a range of matters, including liaising with colleagues from other functions within the UK business such as IT, Finance, Property, HR and claims management;
  • Ensuring T&Cs are reviewed and are aligned throughout the business;
  • Managing a number of contentious matters, including liaising with external counsel;
  • Identifying risk to the appropriate internal stakeholders and proactively helping to manage and mitigate that risk;
  • Assisting other functional leads in maintaining legislative and regulatory compliance throughout the various business units, including construction products, data protection, health and safety, business ethics, and anti-corruption and bribery;
  • Keeping up to date with changes to law and regulation, conducting research into these changes, and communicating any relevant requirements to the business;
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders;
  • Maintaining the UK’s register of trademarks;
  • Liaising with insurers
Qualifications
  • UK qualified solicitor, or solicitor qualified in another common-law jurisdiction
  • Ideally, at least 5+ PQE
  • Any experience within the building space would be useful but not essential
  • Confidence in dealing with a broad range of issues
  • Excellent drafting skills and experience
  • Collaborative approach
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
