Introduction

Our client is looking for a Pre-Construction Director to lead their work-winning strategy and oversee the full tendering process from expression of interest to final submission, for high-profile infrastructure projects. This is a senior leadership role where you'll shape bid strategies, guide a talented team, and influence the success of major contracts. You'll also play a key role in the internal and external marketing media streams.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver winning bid strategies for major tenders.
  • Lead the full tender process from initial enquiry to final submission.
  • Coordinate and inspire bid teams, ensuring collaboration across technical, commercial, and operational functions.
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Oversee bid writing and documentation, ensuring proposals are persuasive, accurate, and aligned with client needs.
  • Work with finance and operations to create robust cost estimates and pricing strategies.
  • Identify risks and ensure all submissions comply with legal, contractual, and safety requirements.
  • Lead bid reviews, client clarifications, and post-bid negotiations.
  • Analyse bid outcomes, share lessons learned, and continuously improve performance.
  • Oversee marketing, brand awareness, and external communications, including digital campaigns and industry events.
  • Develop, mentor, and grow the bid team's capability.
Requirements
  • Proven track record in leading bid, tender, or pre-construction functions within construction or infrastructure with a strong estimating background.
  • Strong strategic and commercial mindset with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Experience in marketing, branding, or digital communications is advantageous
  • Demonstrated success in developing competitive, high-quality tenders.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and build high-performing teams.
  • Professional bid management qualification (e.g. APMP) desirable.
