An esteemed recruitment agency is seeking an Interim Policy & Engagement Consultant in Greater London. This role, hybrid in nature, involves designing engagement processes for the Council's Corporate Strategy and providing expert policy advice. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in strategy development within government, possess a solid understanding of political landscapes, and be proficient in consultation methods. Qualifications

Interim Policy & Engagement Consultant

Duration: 3 months
Location: Hybrid – 2 days on-site

Key Responsibilities
  • To drive the design of engagement process around the Council's Corporate Strategy, 2026-2030
  • To use innovative engagement methods, both virtually and in person to create a participatory process that allows officers of the Council, partners and residents to contribute their views to the creation of a new Corporate Strategy
  • To interpret feedback from engagement sessions into quantitative and qualitative data, devising a strong narrative to support the creation of a Corporate Strategy
  • To provide expert policy advice on the creation of the Council's Corporate Strategy, ensuring the views of all interested stakeholders are considered and presented coherently
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience of strategy or policy development in central, local government, public body or think tank
  • Familiarity with the UK government structures, and policy-making processes
  • Knowledge of the current financial and strategic challenges facing local government
  • Significant knowledge of various consultation and coproduction methods, including experience of facilitating workshops and devising surveys/ consultation documents
  • Knowledge and experience of analysing and presenting data to senior management to enable effective decision making
  • Proven experience of proactively working on own initiative, under pressure to tight timescales, managing and prioritising workload
  • Excellent political awareness and experience of working within a political environment
