Job description
Overview

Lead the delivery of the water hygiene remedial programme at University Hospital Coventry, ensuring all risk assessment defects are closed out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with HTM and British Standards. Provide clear direction to the onsite team, maintain visibility of progress, and give the Trust assurance through accurate reporting and governance.

Main Duties
  • Team Leadership & Delivery - Manage and direct four in-house engineers/plumbers to deliver remedial works (deadlegs/outlet removals, CWST works, flexi hose removals, etc.). Ensure works are scheduled, coordinated, and delivered with a “right first time” approach. Arrange access to areas with nursing staff, team leaders, and Estates as required. Liaise with the Responsible Person (RP) to arrange permits ahead of scheduled works. Monitor productivity and quality, ensuring remedials are closed out to specification.
  • Planning & Preparation - Survey upcoming works to identify requirements in advance. Ensure all parts, fittings, and materials are ordered and available before works begin. Maintain a clear schedule of planned works, with forward visibility for the Estates/FM team.
  • Tracking & Reporting - Operate and maintain a live tracking system for all remedial actions. Record progress with close-out evidence, aligned to HTM requirements. Apply RAG ratings to prioritise urgent/high-risk actions. Identify and escalate hurdles before they impact delivery, supporting solutions where required. Produce a monthly report for the Water Safety Group (WSG), highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation plans. Present progress at WSG meetings and respond to queries.
  • Compliance & Standards - Ensure all works are carried out safely, in line with HTM guidance, British Standards, and HSE regulations. Maintain accurate records for audit and governance purposes. Work collaboratively with Estates/FM to ensure continuity of service and minimal disruption.
  • Oversight & Governance - Oversight will be provided by Marlowe, with Paul Tolley attending site monthly to validate progress, review KPIs, and support escalation/resolution of issues. The governance layer ensures assurance, accountability, and confidence for both Mitie and the Trust.
  • Success Measures - All remedials delivered to standard, on time, and evidenced. Zero compliance failures or repeat defects. Clear, accurate, and timely reporting to WSG. Positive working relationships with Estates, nursing staff, and FM team. Risks identified early, with solutions agreed and implemented.
