A leading maritime services provider in the UK is looking for an Information Liaison (Document Controller) to support digital document management. Your role will involve collaborating with teams to ensure compliance with best practices and documentation standards. You will bring hands-on experience with document management tools like SharePoint and a background in facilities management or construction. This role offers a competitive salary and benefits, including generous holiday and professional development opportunities.
Service Area: SHEQ & Transformation, IM&T
Hours of Work: 37 per week
As an Information Liaison, you'll be a key contributor within the Base Information Management Team, supporting the effective handling of digital documents across working, published, and archived stores. You'll provide expert guidance to teams across KBS Maritime, helping them manage their information in line with industry best practice. From processing digital content into the KBS Common Data Model (CDM) to maintaining metadata quality and supporting document control, your work will help protect critical asset documentation and ensure compliance with defined policies.
You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders, building trusted relationships with information owners, stewards, and users to centralise unstructured data and embed best practice across the organisation. You’ll also advise teams on documentation requirements, support quality assurance activities, and ensure information security standards are met, especially when documents are shared externally. Furthermore, this role will be vital in driving consistency, improving data integrity, and enabling smarter information management across the business.
You’ll bring hands‑on experience with document management tools like SharePoint and have previously worked as a Document Controller in facilities management or construction environments using modern, BIM‐19650‑compliant systems. Your understanding of documentation standards (particularly ISO19650) will enable you to apply best practice methodologies confidently across varied information sets.
Alongside your technical expertise, you’ll be skilled in providing advice and support to both internal teams and clients on all aspects of documentation management. Proficiency in Excel and Word will support your day‑to‑day tasks, while your ability to manage metadata, ensure data integrity, and navigate complex systems will make you a trusted resource in driving effective information governance.
As a confident and approachable professional, you’ll build rapport easily and take time to explain technical requirements clearly. By applying procedures with flexibility, you’ll communicate with clarity, and actively listen to others, creating strong, respectful relationships across teams. With a keen analytical mindset and an organised approach to planning, you remain composed under pressure and consistently drive for improvement, even when faced with challenges. Also, your initiative and alignment with company values make you a trusted and influential presence in the workplace.
Additionally, you’ll be comfortable working independently and can confidently challenge non‑conformance when needed. With a understanding of the long‑term vision for asset data management, you’ll contribute to its delivery by modelling best practices and helping others adopt them.
Applications are urged to apply prior to the advertising closing date of Friday 9th January.
