Job description

Cyber security is at the heart of everything we do at Enfield Council. As an Information Cyber Security Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our systems, data, and services against evolving threats. This is not just about monitoring alerts – it is about being proactive, strategic, and hands‑on in protecting critical infrastructure that supports thousands of residents.

Responsibilities
  • Threat Detection and Response – using Microsoft Sentinel and Defender to monitor, analyse, and respond to incidents swiftly and effectively.
  • Risk and Compliance – performing audits, risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to GDPR and data protection regulations.
  • Technical Expertise – managing privilege account systems, endpoint security solutions, and supporting cloud security in Azure and M365 environments.
  • Continuous Improvement – researching emerging technologies, testing new security tools, and contributing to initiatives that strengthen our cyber resilience.
  • Collaboration – acting as a trusted advisor to colleagues, providing guidance on security implications of business changes, and deputising for the Senior Security Manager when required.

This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same. You will need to balance operational priorities with strategic projects, often under tight deadlines, and occasionally provide out‑of‑hours support to maintain service continuity. You will be expected to attend the Civic Centre for a minimum of two days per week, subject to business priorities.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Information Security or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a cyber security role with relevant certifications (e.g., CEH, CCSP, CySA+).
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks, Microsoft security tools, and cloud environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach and passion for cyber security.
Benefits
  • An excellent pension through the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
  • Up to 32 days annual leave depending on grade and length of service – plus eight public holidays per year and an extra day off at Christmas.
  • A blend of remote and office‑based working for most roles.
  • Interest‑free season ticket loan repayable over three or ten months.
  • Career development and learning experiences from a range of training courses and learning methods.
  • Employee Assistance Programme – free and confidential advice and counselling services for staff and their families.
  • Health and leisure discounts, and tax‑free bikes for work.
  • One month's paid sabbatical for registered Social Workers working in Children's Social Care.
