Role Purpose

The Hygienist plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety across the factory. This role supports safe production of confectionery products by ensuring all equipment, production areas and shared spaces are cleaned to the required standards, in line with food safety, quality and health and safety expectations.

This is a hands‑on role that directly contributes to product quality, customer trust and audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will carry out daily cleaning and sanitation of production lines, machinery, utensils and work areas according to site hygiene schedules and cleaning instructions.
  • You will safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment, following COSHH and internal procedures at all times.
  • You will complete cleaning records accurately and on time to support traceability and audit requirements.
  • You will identify and report any hygiene, pest or structural issues that could impact food safety.
  • You will work closely with production teams to ensure cleaning is completed efficiently with minimal disruption.
  • You will follow all food safety, allergen control, health and safety and company policies.
  • You will support deep cleans, changeovers and shut down cleaning as required.
  • You will take pride in maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or hygiene role is preferred, particularly within confectionery or FMCG, although full training can be provided for the right candidate.
  • You will have a good understanding of hygiene standards and the importance of food safety.
  • You will be reliable, detail focused and able to work to routines and schedules.
  • You will be comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required to complete records and follow instructions.
  • Flexibility around working hours may be required to support production and cleaning schedules.
