Overview

A highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for hydraulics is urgently required to join an innovative marine engineering team at the forefront of cutting-edge projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing organisation where your work will have a real impact supporting projects from concept through to commissioning.

Within a skilled and supportive engineering team, you’ll play a key role in the development of mechanical systems with a focus on hydraulic design, helping to shape the next generation of marine technology for both commercial and leisure vessels.

The Role

Mechanical Design Engineer - Hydraulics

Salary: £40,000 - £65,000 + Pension + Life Assurance + 25 Days Holiday

Location: Hampshire

Responsibilities
  • Design and specify hydraulic systems, producing schematics, 3D models, and detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Model and validate systems using simulation tools such as Simcenter AMEsim
  • Produce technical documentation, including calculations and design justifications
  • Support system development and testing
  • Manage supplier selection and liaison throughout the design and build process
  • Provide commissioning and technical support for vessels
  • Collaborate closely within a small, cross-functional engineering team
  • Contribute to wider mechanical design work as required
The Person
  • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Power, Control Systems, or a related discipline
  • Experience in hydraulic system design (including schematics and component selection)
  • Solid understanding of both industrial and mobile hydraulic systems
  • Proficiency in CAD for mechanical design (3D modelling & drawings)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative environment
  • Willingness to travel for commissioning and support activities
  • Experience using Simcenter AMEsim highly desirable
  • NFPC or equivalent hydraulic training desirable (can be provided for the right candidate)
