A leading global engineering company seeks an R&D Labs lead Electrical Engineer in Wolverhampton. The role involves maintaining safety in the lab, supporting engineering testing, and managing operational procedures. Candidates should hold an HNC or higher in engineering, have extensive electrical testing experience, and be adept with testing instrumentation. As An R&D Labs lead Electrical Engineer, you will report to the HVDC Valve Test Team Leader within the Product Delivery Group (PDG) of Grid Systems Integration (GSI) in GE Vernova. This is a multi-disciplined hands‑on role. Candidates are expected to have good practical skills in both Electrical and Mechanical engineering as well as excellent diagnostic skills. You'll also need good general IT skills and a working knowledge of computer networks. Ideally, you'll be a time served apprentice and will have worked in a HV test lab or manufacturing area before and have a good working knowledge of the types of equipment used. In addition to a high level of Electrical knowledge, you'll be comfortable using hand and power tools and have good basic fabrication skills. You must be curious - willing and able to learn whatever skills are necessary to get the job done, from tidying up to presenting technical proposals for Lab upgrades. You'll need to be self‑motivated, able to plan and execute a task to a high standard and independently of others. You'll be the gatekeeper for safety in a high‑risk environment. Safety must be the primary concern of everything you do, and you must lead others with your example.
