Physical Controls Human Factors Engineer - Gaydon (Hybrid) - 36255145 - £27.30/hr - Inside IR35

This role is ideal for someone with a background in human factors or ergonomics who can bridge the gap between user needs and technical design in an automotive context. It involves a mix of analytical, collaborative, and creative tasks to ensure vehicle controls are user-friendly and safe. The position requires both technical knowledge and effective communication to work with cross-functional teams.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and refine Human Factors requirements for physical user controls, ensuring they align with industry standards and project goals.
  • Analyse quality data related to user controls and utilise insights to enhance requirements and solve issues.
  • Provide Human Factors expertise in the design and development of new physical user interfaces.
  • Conduct Human Factors assessments, including evaluations of human error and workload, to optimise user interaction.
  • Perform requirement testing and produce detailed reports to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with UX Designers and Product Owners to integrate user controls into the overall vehicle user experience.

What You Will Bring:

  • Knowledge of ergonomics, human factors, and user interface design principles.
  • A basic understanding of scientific theories related to user interface design.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey concepts and resolve issues with stakeholders.
  • Preferably, experience in an automotive environment and familiarity with Agile planning tools such as JIRA or Confluence.
