Job summary

A leading rail construction company in the UK is looking for an experienced HSQE Advisor. The role involves liaising on Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental issues, managing safety audits across projects, and supporting health and safety initiatives. Candidates should have relevant rail project experience and NEBOSH qualification as well as knowledge of Network Rail and London Underground standards. Travel throughout the UK is required. Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience working in a health and safety role within a railway environment.
  • Sentinel – Personal Track Safety (PTS)/AC/DCCR is desirable.
  • Qualified or working towards Environmental Awareness Qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the QSE library.
  • Conduct planned safety audits of work sites.

Skills

Experience in rail construction projects

Job description

Global Rail Construction Ltd is part of the RSK Group and is a leading UK provider of design and build services to clients in the rail and transportation sector.

The company is a Principal Contractor for UK mainline and metro railways across a number of disciplines, which include signalling, mechanical, electrical and power (MEP), telecoms, civil and structural engineering, maintenance, renewal, providing a fully tested and commissioned service, on both Network Rail and Transport for London controlled infrastructure.

We are currently seeking a HSQE Advisor with railway experience to work on projects across UK.

Job description:
  • The daily liaison and regular reporting of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental related issues to the HSE Manager or deputy.
  • Assisting in the management of the QSE library.
  • Provide support for QSE related issues and improvements.
  • Undertake planned safety audits of all sites where GRCL works are being undertaken or where GRCL deployed resources are based.
  • Maintaining good communications throughout the organisation.
  • Provide internal QSE training in accordance with planned requirements.
  • Provide additional support to projects as required.
  • Support GRCL behavioural safety initiative.
  • Assist in the collation submission of periodic KPIs.
  • Assist project in reviewing/checking delivery plans.

Candidates should note that the position will require travel throughout the UK.

To be considered for the role, you will need to demonstrate the following credentials:
  • Experience in rail construction projects (required)
  • Qualified to NEBOSH Construction Certificate level/NVQ level 3 Occupational Health and Safety in Practice (required)
  • IOSH – Technician Status minimum or IIRSM – Associate Status minimum 3-5 years experience working in a health and safety role within a railway environment in both Network Rail (AC, DC & non electrified areas) and London Underground controlled infrastructures (required)
  • Sentinel – Personal Track Safety (PTS)/AC/DCCR (desirable)
  • Qualified or working towards Environmental Awareness Qualification – IEMA/CEIH /CIWM (desirable)
  • Good working knowledge of Network Rail and London Underground Standards and procedures (desirable)
  • CSCS professional card (desirable)
  • Train the trainer City & Guilds (i.e. AET/7300) qualified or working towards (desirable)
