Job summary

A leading UK manufacturing company is looking for a Health & Safety Compliance Officer to promote safety culture and ensure compliance with UK legislation. Responsibilities include managing risk assessments, overseeing safety inspections, and conducting incident investigations. Candidates must have a NEBOSH certificate and at least 2 years' experience in health and safety within a manufacturing environment. This full-time role is based in Dagenham and comes with a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Experience preparing professional documentation for regulators or external agencies (e.g., RIDDOR, insurance claims).
  • Strong working knowledge of key UK safety legislation (HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, CDM etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture across the site.
  • Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and accidents.
  • Manage the inspection and calibration of critical safety equipment.

Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong presentation and training delivery abilities
Confident influencing and negotiation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to make sound safety decisions under pressure

Education

NEBOSH National General Certificate
Level 3 Fire Risk Assessment / Fire Safety Management Qualification
Good standard of education including English & Maths
First Aid at Work
Accredited Asbestos Awareness training
Accredited Legionella Awareness training
Accredited Confined Space Entry and Rescue training
