A healthcare provider in Walsall is seeking a dedicated HSDU Assistant to support patient care by ensuring sterile medical devices are provided. The role includes cleaning, assembling, and sterilising medical instruments, while also requiring good communication skills and teamwork. Essential qualifications include GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C or above. You will possess good communication skills, work well as part of a team and have the ability to work in an extremely busy and challenging environment. We are committed to providing a high standard of care to our patients using a multidisciplinary approach. You will provide sterile medical devices/Endoscopes to theatres, wards, departments and community services. You may need to communicate with not only colleagues but also our internal and external customers.
We are looking for 1 individual who is fully committed to providing a very high standard of work to support the needs of the Trust and to meet the high standards required to provide a safe environment for the care of our patients 365 days per year which includes weekends and Bank Holidays. HSDU Assistants are responsible for providing and maintaining a high standard of Sterile Medical Devices/Endoscopes to Theatres, Wards, Departments and Community Services.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.
