Job description

What's the role about?

Are you an experienced, technology-focused HR Specialist? We're looking for you to join our team!

You will make sure HR services run smoothly by being the main link between the business and our offshore service partner. As an expert in HR processes, you will handle escalations, check service performance, and lead improvements. You will also manage HR projects, ensure we follow policies and laws, and help build efficient, future-ready ways of working.

You’ll need strong people and project management skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with others.

What will I be doing?

You’ll be the main contact for HR services, managing escalations and ensuring service levels meet business needs, strategically leading and influencing our third‑party provider for excellent HR service delivery. You’ll also:

  • Lead Area Ownership: Take responsibility for one of these areas – Administration, Starters, Leavers & Movers (SLAM), Right to Work, or Helpdesk Enquiries.
  • Improve Processes and Fix Issues: Find ways to make processes simpler, faster, and better for managers and colleagues. Investigate problems and ensure solutions are put in place.
  • Use Technology: Introduce agentic AI and digital tools to automate tasks and improve accuracy.
  • Stay Compliant and Work Together: Support audits and checks so everything meets legal and company standards. Partner with stakeholders to support HR projects and improve People Operations.
  • Share Knowledge: Train managers and offshore teams on HR systems and best practice.
  • Use Data: Monitor data quality, onboarding checks, and legal requirements.
What are we looking for?
  • Good knowledge of HR and experience in shared services or outsourced environments.
  • Ability to manage complex queries and deliver great service in a busy setting.
  • Strong stakeholder‑management skills and the ability to build good relationships.
  • Comfortable using technology and supporting digital change.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of process‑improvement methods like LEAN (preferred).
  • Experience with HR systems such as SAP, SuccessFactors, and Microsoft tools like Copilot, Loop, and Office.
Where will I be based?

We offer a flexible hybrid working model. You’ll need to travel to our Birmingham office once or twice a week and occasionally to India to drive offshore operations. There may also be travel to other Mitie offices.
