Summary of your role

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Employee Relations (ER) Advisor to join our HR team. In this role, you will provide expert guidance and support on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes. You'll play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture, supporting managers, and helping to create an environment where all employees can thrive.

This role will also focus on developing proactive strategies to improve on‑site employee engagement and drive a positive workplace culture.

Reports to: HR Director

Your team: HR Team

Your clients: DSG clients; Operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and coach managers on all aspects of employee relations, including conduct, capability, absence management, grievances, and disciplinary issues.
  • Manage end‑to‑end ER case‑work, ensuring timely, fair, and consistent resolution in line with company policy and employment law.
  • Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring understanding and compliance across the business.
  • Conduct or support investigations into employee complaints or concerns, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism throughout.
  • Partner with HR colleagues and business leaders to identify trends and provide insights that inform proactive people strategies.
  • Support organisational change initiatives such as restructures, TUPE transfers, and redundancy consultations.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case management records and produce reports on ER activity and trends.
  • Deliver training and workshops for managers on ER topics, policies, and best practices.
  • Stay abreast of employment law developments and best practice to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of HR processes.
Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Proven experience in an HR advisory or employee relations role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex ER cases from investigation to resolution.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship‑building skills.
  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Desirable
  • CIPD Level 3 or 5.
  • Experience in a unionised environment.
  • Exposure to HR systems and case management tools.
