Overview

Job Title: Housing Inspection Officer

Location: South London and Southeast

Salary: £26,215-£40,660 with an additional £3,500 location allowance for employees residing within a London postcode

Hours: Monday-Friday 40 hours per week 8.30am-5pm

Contract Type: Permanent

Purpose of the Role: Our client, a leading provider of housing solutions, is seeking a Housing Inspection Officer to ensure high standards of accommodation and services for service users across initial and large site accommodations. In this role, you will oversee compliance, service quality, and risk management, ensuring all contractual and statutory obligations are met. The role involves conducting regular site inspections, audits, and welfare checks, working closely with accommodation staff, subcontractors, and stakeholders. You\'ll help maintain safe, suitable housing environments while ensuring support services are effectively delivered.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct monthly inspections to assess service quality and compliance.
  • Identify and report non-conformances, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Work closely with onsite staff and subcontractors to uphold service standards.
  • Perform pre-audits of accommodations before they become operational.
  • Ensure service users receive proper support, including welfare checks and assistance with healthcare and schooling.
  • Monitor move-on processes, ensuring service users transition out of accommodations on time.
  • Collaborate with UKVI and other regulatory bodies during audits and inspections.
  • Provide detailed reports and recommendations for improvements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous experience or knowledge of housing inspections.
  • Desirable: Qualification or training in housing management.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Desirable: Experience working with challenging tenant groups.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritising competing demands.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders, both in person and remotely.
  • Proven ability to deliver positive outcomes in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and prioritisation abilities.
  • Skilled at managing multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential, as this role involves extensive daily travel.
