Job summary

A leading ferry company in the UK is seeking a Hotel Repairman to support the engine room team while offering opportunities for growth. Qualifications

  • Fluent in English.
  • Basic STCW training and ENG1 certificates.
  • Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats training.
  • Engine Watch Rating certificate (III/4) or Able Seafarer Engine (III/5) CoC.

Job description

We are currently recruiting a Hotel Repairman to join our Holyhead/Dublin on Stena Estrid route. This role will allow you to use your skills to provide support to the engine room team while having the opportunity to develop within a supportive setting.

Some of Your Key Responsibilities
  • Acting in accordance with your responsibilities in the vessel's emergency organisation.
  • Carrying out engine room watch-keeping duties as directed.
  • Carry out daily inspection of crew and passenger accommodation spaces report/rectify any faults found. Work with onboard management to ensure problems are rectified in a timely manner as not to impact on service. Work with onboard management to ensure sufficient spares for critical equipment are kept onboard.
  • Carrying out engine room fire and safety patrols as directed.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of all engine room firefighting and safety equipment as directed by the second engineer.
  • Carry out maintenance/repairs of all fixture and fittings in crew, passenger and galley related spaces. This will include toilet vacuum systems, fresh and grey water systems. Help out in the engine room as and when required.
  • Be familiar with the relevant parts, procedures and requirements of the SMS contained within the DOCMAP system.
  • Take an active interest in the duties above your rank to ensure confidence in stepping up and the ability to be hands‑on.

Qualifications
  • Fluent in English

Passenger Vessel Experience Is Preferred But Not Essential

Experience in roles including plumbing, carpentry, welding and general maintenance is preferred.
