Location: Gateshead

Salary: £140 - £261.79 per day (DOE)
Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a number of secondary schools across Gateshead and the surrounding area, who are actively seeking a History Teacher to join their Humanities department ASAP or from January 2026. Applications are welcome for temporary, short‑term, part‑time, full‑time, and permanent roles.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Teaching engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with A‑Level History opportunities available in some schools)
- Planning stimulating lessons that explore key historical periods, events, interpretations, and themes
- Encouraging critical thinking, source analysis, and strong written communication
- Adapting teaching to support mixed‑ability classes and diverse learning needs
- Working collaboratively within a supportive Humanities department to share resources and good practice
- Supporting or leading extra‑curricular activities such as history clubs, heritage projects, or educational trips
About You:
- A qualified history teacher (QTS/QTLS or equivalent)
- Confident delivering the national curriculum for History and preparing students for GCSE exams (and potentially A‑Level)
- Passionate about bringing History to life through engaging teaching, meaningful debate, and real‑world connections
- Committed to helping all students achieve their best through high‑quality teaching and support
- A team player with a positive contribution to school life
- Humanities experience – including Geography, RE, or Citizenship – is a beneficial additional skill, offering flexibility within departments
- Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are warmly encouraged to apply, with full induction support provided
