Job summary

A civil engineering contractor in the UK is seeking a Freelance Highways Supervisor for a junction upgrade project in Leeds. Freelance Highways Supervisor

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Rate: £25 - £27 per hour

I am recruiting for a Civils / Highways Supervisor to work with a civil engineering contractor delivering a Junction upgrade project in Leeds, to oversee day-to-day site operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise site activities for highways and drainage works on a live roundabout scheme
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification
• Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and plant
• Carry out site inspections and maintain quality, safety, and environmental standards
• Liaise with the Site Manager, Engineer, and local authorities
• Keep detailed site records, permits, and documentation

Requirements

• Proven experience supervising highways projects (ideally local authority schemes)
• SSSTS or SMSTS certification
• CSCS card (Supervisor or Manager level)
• Strong understanding of health & safety and temporary traffic management
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple site activities
