Overview

St. Alban's Catholic Primary School requires a committed, conscientious and exceptional individual to support higher level teaching assistant capacity throughout the school. We are proud to be part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, a family of secondary, middle, primary and first schools in Durham, Gateshead, Northumberland and Sunderland. Bishop Wilkinson is the largest Catholic education trust in the North East of England, with a plan to have a total of 48 schools. This is an exciting time to join our supportive team. Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the overall Catholic ethos/work/aims of the school
  • Be committed to safeguarding and the promotion of the welfare of children and young people
  • Support, lead, cover and teach small group and whole-class sessions as part of planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time
  • Reflect upon practice and demonstrate a desire to continually improve
  • Promote good pupil behaviour, in line with school policy
  • Provide timely feedback to pupils to support continued progress
  • Adapt teaching to accommodate the needs of all pupils
  • Establish good relationships
  • Encourage pupils to act independently
  • Recognise the importance of assessment for/of learning
  • Develop the firm foundations of oracy in our pupils
  • Be aware of and comply with school policies/procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, behaviour, anti-bullying, anti-racism, confidentiality and data protection; report concerns to an appropriate person
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a professional team to carry out roles effectively
