Job Title: Higher Apprentice Mechanical / Electrical Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base (Hampshire)

Salary: Starting from £22,500 with annual progression through the scheme duration

What you'll be doing
  • Produce engineering drawings, data and documentation to facilitate the manufacture, installation, testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis, maintenance, overhaul and removal of electrical and data systems on maritime vessels
  • Work on propulsion machinery, weapons, sensors, and auxiliary systems (such as water, air conditioning, electronic equipment including programmable logic controllers, power generation and distribution)
  • Gain knowledge and expertise of the design and use of electrical, electronic and combat systems to ensure safe embodiment of Capability Insertions
  • Office‑based drawing and document research, along with surveys and validation of systems onboard complex warships
What Qualification will you get?

Qualification requirements

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9-4/A*-C which must include Maths & English & a Science/Technical Subject AND 1 of the following:

  • 3 A-levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above. 1 subject must be Maths and 1 subject must be in Engineering or a Science/Technical subject
  • An equivalent level 3 vocational qualification (must be a STEM related subject that aligns to the scheme/area you are applying for and worth a minimum of 96 UCAS points)
