Job summary

A commercial vehicle service provider in East Grinstead is seeking an HGV technician to maintain and repair commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard. Candidates should possess a technical qualification, a current driving licence, and the ability to work under pressure. The role includes performing routine maintenance, diagnosing faults, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This is a full-time position with alternating shifts.

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification or knowledge gained through hands-on workshop experience.
  • Current driving licence is essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard.
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults.
  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer premises.

Job description
Overview

Working hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday, alternating by week between 8:00–16:00 and 16:00–00:00, with a 30-minute paid break per shift. The HGV technician's role within TruckEast is to be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer premises
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • Liaise with parts department to attain parts
  • Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
  • Provide cover on rota system for breakdown cover
Qualifications
