Job summary

A leading global manufacturing business near Leyland is seeking an experienced HGV and Plant Technician. In this role, you will conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs, trailers, and other plant equipment, ensuring compliance with VOSA standards. Ideal candidates will have over 4 years of experience in a similar position, a relevant qualification, and good communication skills. The role offers a salary between £49,000 - £53,300 and works days only from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of HGV / Plant Technician experience.
• Apprentice trained and qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3.
• Valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence preferred.
• MOT Preparation Experience with Tractor Units & Trailers.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical & electrical faults.
• Liaise with workshop administrator for parts ordering.
• Keep a clean and safe working environment.

gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a HGV & Plant Technician to work at their facility based near Leyland

Performance Obstacles

• Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs & MOTs on HGV's, Trailers, Pool Cars & Other Plant to VOSA standard
• Diagnose and rectify all types of mechanical & electrical faults using Texa diagnostic equipment
• Dismantle, repair / replace faulty components and test the new ones are working safely
• Liaise with HGV workshop administrator to order vehicle parts
• Good communication and maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment

Person Specification

• 4+ Years of HGV / Plant Technician experience
• Apprentice trained and qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
• Holds valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence (Desirable)
• MOT Preparation Experience - Tractor Units & Trailers
• Previous experience working with HGV's and Plant, basic welding skills, hydraulic & auto electrical skills
• Hardworking and can work well under pressure in a safe and responsible manner
• IRTEC Accreditation (Desirable)
• Loler competence - experience in undertaking loler inspections - LEEA
