Job summary

A forward-thinking healthcare charity in West Yorkshire is seeking a Hepatitis C Support Worker to provide community-based support for individuals at risk or living with Hepatitis C. Responsibilities include promoting awareness, providing 1:1 support, and helping access healthcare services. The role requires strong communication skills, experience with vulnerable individuals, and a non-judgmental approach. A driving licence is desirable. This is a full-time position with a rate between £15.00 and £18.00 per hour.

Hepatitis C Support Worker – West Yorkshire

Location: West Yorkshire (community-based with travel across the region)
Rate: £15.00 – £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Contract: 3 – 6 months (with potential for extension)
Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time (some flexibility may be required)

Belmont Recruitment are working with a forward-thinking harm reduction and healthcare charity to recruit a Hepatitis C Support Worker on a contract basis in West Yorkshire. This role focuses on supporting people who are at risk of, or currently living with, Hepatitis C – helping them access testing, treatment, and holistic support.

You’ll work across community settings, drug and alcohol services, and outreach locations to actively engage vulnerable individuals and provide practical, person‑centred support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote awareness and understanding ofatitis C among service users and the wider community
  • Provide 1:1 support to individuals throughout the testing and treatment journey
  • Support access to healthcare services including blood tests, fibroscans, and specialist clinics
  • Deliver harm reduction advice and distribute relevant resources (e.g. leaflets, clean injecting equipment where appropriate)
  • Work closely with local NHS and third‑sector services to ensure coordinated care
  • Help reduce stigma by encouraging open, non‑judgemental conversations around blood‑borne viruses
  • Maintain accurate records of engagement, outcomes, and progress
Requirements
  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals, ideally within drug and alcohol, criminal justice, or health outreach settings
  • A solid understanding of Hepatitis C and/or harm reduction principles (training can be provided)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with individuals from all walks of life
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a multi‑agency team
  • A non‑judgemental, empathetic, and person‑centred approach
  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle is highly desirable
