Job description
Overview

Fergusons Transport is the largest private haulier in the region and a well-established, family-owned business with a strong reputation for excellence. Our Northern centres in Cramlington and Washington feature a dedicated HGV workshop responsible for servicing and maintaining our modern fleet, as well as providing external commercial vehicle services. We are offering an exciting career development opportunity for a Trainee HGV Maintenance Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities
  • Work alongside a qualified Technician to learn how to carry out repairs according to Fergusons Transports procedures in a safe and responsible manner
  • Be trained on how to service, maintain and repair Daimler vehicles which have the latest technology
  • Learn the fundamentals of heavy vehicle technologies – heavy vehicle chassis, engine, fuels, transmissions, hydraulic and air braking, electrical systems, and testing
  • Be taught how to setup accessories and specific equipment on the vehicles
  • Ensure appropriate work logs are kept for all vehicles, and all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
  • Keep high levels of morale and focus to ensure the highest possible levels of productive efficiency, quality of workmanship, and production finish in order to sustain growth in customer confidence in the service provided
Training to be Provided

Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release to Remit’s Automotive Academy in Derby. There are a total of 16 x 1 week blocks over the 32 month programme. The costs of hotel accommodation, food and travel are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you.
