Healthcare support worker – clinical care - Urology and Gynae

An exciting opportunity has arisen for keen and reliable individuals to join our teams within the Theatre Complex, specifically for Urology and Gynae specialty. If you are looking for a new challenge and have an interest in patient care within the Operating Theatre, then this is the job for you. Key Responsibilities
  • Moving patients between wards, Theatres and Recovery departments
  • Assisting in the care of the surgical patient during the peri-operative period by supporting the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assisting The Clinical Practitioners with procedures.
  • Providing basic patient care.
  • Assisting in the general upkeep and maintenance of stock levels.
  • Providing a safe environment ensuring the highest quality of patient care is provided.
  • Preparing and setting up theatre prior to theatre list.
  • General circulating duties as instructed/requested from qualified members of theatre team.
  • Assisting the safe transit of the patient to and from the ward and between areas within day theatres, before and after surgery, and to ensure safety of any equipment that is attached to the patient.
  • Providing knowledgeable and safe assistance with the transfer of the anaesthetised patient from the patient’s trolley to the operating table using the hospital policy for manual handling of patients.
  • Assisting with the positioning of the patient for a surgical procedure.
  • Undertaking pressure area care using pressure relieving practices and devices as advised by registered staff.
  • Ensuring all documentation is recorded accurately, legibly signed and dated in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and countersigned by registered staff as appropriate.
