A healthcare provider in Scotland is seeking Health Care Support Workers for the Fife Wide School Nursing Service. The role involves supporting children and families in various settings, including schools. Applicants should have experience in healthcare and IT systems, particularly Microsoft Office. This fixed-term position requires flexibility and an interest in community health. Ideal candidates will contribute to the administrative functions of the service while ensuring quality support for children's wellbeing.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Health Care Support Workers to join the Fife Wide School Nursing Service.
If you have experience in a healthcare setting, have experience using IT systems such as Microsoft Office, and an interest in supporting children, young people and their families, we would welcome your application.
You will work across Fife with dynamic teams of School Nurses, Community Staff Nurses, Nursery Nurses and Health Care Support Workers in a variety of settings – including NHS Fife sites, schools, and Health and Social Care Partnership settings.
The role will involve a significant contribution to the administrative functioning of the School Nursing Service, and, as required, you will work flexibly to meet the Service needs for community‑based work, supporting the health and wellbeing of children and young people across Fife.
This post is fixed term until December 2026.
Informal Enquiries: Fiona Crook – School Nurse Team Leader, 07717361887.
A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme prior to appointment.
Please note, as this is a part‑time post, salary is pro‑rata.
NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure that all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.
We offer flexible working and family‑friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, as well as candidates with long‑term conditions or who are neuro‑divergent, by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. As part of the pre‑employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will verify your entitlement to work in the UK. This can be evidenced through a number of routes, including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre‑settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website.
For specific types of posts, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker / Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licensed sponsor and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found on the appropriate government website.
It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored before submitting your application form.
Fixed Term / Secondment Opportunity – Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be found on the internal portal Hub • Blink (joinblink.com). If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed‑term post. External applicants, with continuous NHS Service, must also have an in‑place secondment agreement from their existing board to apply for this post.
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
