Role Purpose
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, participate in the development and delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care through involvement in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Role Context
This role requires an individual who can work effectively under the supervision and leadership of registered nurses, supporting people with palliative and end-of-life care needs. The post holder will provide safe, person-centred care to patients within the inpatient unit at Bassetlaw Hospice, ensuring dignity, respect, and comfort at all times.
Bassetlaw Hospice offers palliative care for people aged 18 and over with cancer and other progressive, life-limiting conditions aiming to enhance quality of life for patients and their families. Located in Redford, the hospice provides integrated care through a support and well-being centre, day services, and an inpatient unit, all supported by a dedicated team on the local charity. Services include symptom management, holistic and complementary therapies, psychological support, and activities like crafts and gardening, alongside home care and bereavement support.

Safeguarding
All staff are responsible for ensuring that risks of harm to children and vulnerable adults are minimised. Concerns must be addressed in line with hospice safeguarding policies and local multi-agency procedures.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
This role requires an enhanced DBS check at the point of recruitment and periodically thereafter.
Infection Prevention and Control
All employees must follow hospice infection prevention and control procedures and undertake mandatory training.

Staff must demonstrate understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in line with hospice policy and legislation.
Data Quality
Accurate and timely record-keeping is essential for safe care delivery and effective decision-making.

Frequent requirement to exert moderate physical effort and exposure to distressing circumstances due to the nature of end-of-life care.
