Healthcare Assistant - FlexiBank

Responsibilities
  • Support RGNs in the implementation of an agreed plan of care with the patient.
  • Help promote and maintain a caring, supportive environment focused on meeting the needs of the patient / relatives / carer, working collaboratively with other departments to achieve this.
  • Look after the physical comfort of patients, for example helping them with activities of daily living.
  • Take basic observations such as blood pressure and temperature, height and weight, utilising the early warning score system as per hospital policy and elevate appropriately to the trained nurse.
  • Listen and talk to patients, helping them to feel supported and safe.
  • Assist with keeping the department clean and tidy, cleaning of equipment, adhering to infection prevention and control policy and hospital procedures at all times.
  • Keep supplies and equipment in order, assisting in the maintenance of stock levels.
  • Maintain contemporaneous patient records including patient pathways and the relevant IT reporting systems are up-to-date and accurate ensuring countersigned by a trained nurse.
  • Chaperone when required.
  • Participate in basic wound care management as required.
  • Deal with any patient / relative complaints at the time if possible however elevate to appropriate member of staff if need be.
Qualifications
  • Minimum GCSE education or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2 / 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Training (Essential)
Experience
  • Ability to learn and develop
  • Pre-assessment Healthcare experience in a hospital environment
Skills

Desirables
  • Experience in the private sector
  • Competence in the following areas : phlebotomy, venapuncture and undertaking ECGs.
  • Enthusiasm for cross functional working within different departments.
