Job summary

A leading contractor in civil engineering based in Swindon is seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor. The role involves conducting risk assessments, developing safety systems, and performing site inspections. About the Company

Our client is a Tier One Main Contractor currently operating with a turnover of £20 billion across the whole group and £100M in the UK. They have offices worldwide; in the UK, their head office is based in the West Country and they have local depots based in London, the West Midlands, and Yorkshire. Their overall specialism in the UK is large Civil Engineering and infrastructure projects, across rail, tunnelling, highways, and bridges. They have worked on large schemes such as Crossrail (Tunnelling & Station upgrades), London Power Tunnels, M4 improvement schemes, Queensferry Crossing & Tottenham Hale Station.

About the Opportunity

Due to the ongoing expansion of the company and winning of new projects, our client is recruiting permanently for an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor with vast knowledge working within the civils infrastructure sector in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out risk review meetings to understand and forecast potential project and task specific risks.
  • Develop control measures for identified risks.
  • Assist project teams in the development of safe systems of works.
  • Carry out site inspections and audits.
  • Complete reports and assist teams in closeouts.
  • Assist the HSE Lead in developing new systems and processes.
Salary and Rewards

For this permanent opportunity, the target salary range is £50,000 - £55,000 per annum, with flexibility based on experience and suitability. A generous package includes a car allowance of £5,060, private health care, 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), and an 8% employer pension contribution. Relevant training and progression plans will be put in place to support a streamlined development plan.

Requirements
  • Hold a NEBOSH in Construction qualification.
  • Proven experience working specifically within a tier 1 civil engineering contractor in the UK that specialises in highways and rail infrastructure.
  • Reside within commutable distance from their office in Swindon (no hybrid working available) and be willing to travel throughout the UK for site visits.
  • Demonstrate longevity in the workplace, holding each previous appointment for a minimum of 2 years.
