Overview

We have the opportunity for individuals who are caring and compassionate and enjoy being part of an established and hard-working team to join us on Ward 36 in a Health Care Assistant role. The right candidate will implement a high standard of care and ensure patient safety is paramount. Previous care experience is essential, and completion of care certificate is desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in administering direct patient care.
  • Communicate clearly with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicate with patients including discussion on patient comfort and safety and recording of communications on Wirral Millennium.
  • Prioritise own workload.
  • Inform qualified staff of changes in patient's condition or observations.
  • Escort and chaperone patients as appropriate.
  • Communicate with patients/carers taking into consideration the needs of the individual.
  • Undertake some clerical duties such as filing.
  • Undertake ordering of supplies, within agreed stock levels, ensuring stored correctly.
  • Ensure availability, cleanliness and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in the safe handling of patients' valuables and property.
  • Adhere to Wirral Hospital objectives, policies, protocols and guidelines.
  • Report any concerns or anxieties that patients disclose to the appropriate health care professional in charge of patient care.
  • Participate in ward safety huddles and raise concerns as required.
  • Actively participate in maintaining patient comfort and support patients to change position to maintain healthy skin integrity.

DBS and Funding information

The Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing a DBS application is met by the successful applicant(s). DBS costs are recovered via salary deduction following starting in post. The cost varies by level (e.g., Standard Disclosure £21.50 + £6.50 admin fee; Enhanced Disclosure £49.50 + £6.50). This amount is deducted from salary in instalments after commencement.
