Role Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Assistants to adults in the community. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being of people by providing responsive care in their homes. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, personal care, medication support, and companionship.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including washing, dressing, and toileting, while maintaining dignity and respect. Assist with safe repositioning and use of mobility equipment (profiling beds, slide sheets).
- Promote and protect the dignity, privacy, and preferences of those in care. Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and promoting healthy nutrition.
- Support with medication administration in line with care plans. Help with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
- Offer companionship, dignity-focused support and emotional support, encouraging social interaction.
- Apply skin care protocols and maintain skin integrity. Work as a team for scheduled visits.
- Support individuals with mobility needs, using appropriate equipment as required. Monitor and report changes in clients' conditions and comfort levels to relevant healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with care plans, safeguarding policies, and health & safety regulations. Provide waking night support (as needed), staying vigilant throughout.
- Support families sensitively through anticipatory grief and post-death processes (e.g., notifying DN or GP). Accurately record observations, actions and concerns via digital or paper logs.
Requirements
- Experience in domiciliary care, community care, supported living, mental health, learning disabilities, or behaviours that challenge is desirable.
- Knowledge of anticipatory medicines, symptom observation. A caring, patient, and empathetic nature.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A flexible approach to work, including availability for evenings and weekends. Enhanced DBS.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is critical. Manual handling training and experience with equipment.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards).
- Experience supporting individuals with stomas, catheters or NG feeding.
- Experience of working with people with fluctuating capacity and on DoLS orders.

Salary: £12.82 per hour
