A healthcare practice in Leeds is seeking a Health Care Assistant to support clinical teams in patient care. This role requires certifications in venepuncture, basic life support, and an NVQ level 3 in healthcare. Key responsibilities include preparing clinics, administering vaccinations, and ensuring patient safety. Competitive hourly rate between £12.51 to £13.60 depending on experience.
As a health care assistant it is your role to assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of patient care. Undertaking clinical work and duties as delegated by the practice nurses or GPs following appropriate training and assessment of competency.
To work as part of the nursing team and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
To support the nursing team to deliver collaborative care and support planning for patients with long term conditions and assist in the monitoring and recall of patients on practice registers.
Support the smooth running of clinics ensuring all necessary equipment and stock is available and high quality standards of infection control are maintained.
Prepare and set up clinic rooms ensuring all required stock and equipment available and in date.
Ensure all fridges are checked at the start and end of each clinic in accordance with cold chain monitoring. Record fridge temperatures twice daily on each working day ensuring any cold chain breaks are acted upon immediately.
Reporting any cold chain breaks in line with the practice cold chain policy and monitoring fridge data loggers as directed.
Prepare patients for examination by the doctor, chaperoning when necessary. Assist patients to dress and undress, moving and positioning as required, ensure patient safety, dignity and equality at all times.
Ensure all patients and relatives are treated with respect and dignity at all times.
Administer immunisations such as flu, pneumococcal and shingles vaccinations under a patient specific direction.
Undertake weight and obesity monitoring without embarrassment or judgement.
Undertake hypertensive monitoring and organising 24 hour or home blood pressure monitoring in line with the practice policy.
