Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head Receptionist to join our team at Woodlands Veterinary Group!

This is a full‑time position, working 40 hours per week.

Shift pattern: variable shift pattern.

As a Head Receptionist, you will provide a friendly and efficient service to our clients and their animals. You will also be responsible for managing the reception team, staff/holiday rotas and recruitment.

We are looking for someone who has excellent communication and organisational skills, strong leadership abilities, and experience managing teams. Previous receptionist or customer‑facing experience is essential; previous veterinary industry experience would be highly beneficial.

You must be able to remain calm under pressure and show empathy in every situation – from sharing the excitement of a puppy’s first visit to the vet to comforting a client who has received bad news.

As one of our receptionists you will have access to our Client Care Hub. This dedicated space on our Knowledge Hub contains all client‑care resources. You will be invited to a support session within your first few weeks, where you will meet a Learning Partner and begin your training journey. Further sessions will be available over the next six months to address any questions you may have. This training will complement the training you receive in practice.

The salary for this position will be between £27,000 and £30,000 depending on experience (pro‑rated).

Benefits

5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays with an extra day of annual leave each year up to 5 years of employment. Staff benefits include discounted gym membership, staff discount, buy‑and‑sell holiday, health plan, and much more! You can find a list on our careers site.
