Job description

Purpose of Role The Head of Quality of Curriculum & Teaching is a senior leadership role responsible for driving excellence across all aspects of educational provision within the nursery. Working closely and collaboratively with both Nursery Directors and the Nursery Manager, the post holder will ensure the nursery not only meets but consistently exceeds the Ofsted Early Years Inspection Framework, with a particular focus on Quality of Education and Achievement. This is a highly visible, hands‑on role. The successful candidate will role model best practice daily within the rooms, demonstrating an exceptionally strong work ethic that sets the standard for the entire team. Through leadership by example, they will create a culture of accountability, ambition and continuous improvement across the nursery. The role also includes acting as the main parent liaison, leading safeguarding, health and safety, children's wellbeing, inclusivity, behaviour and attitudes, and the development of apprentices and practitioners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of a high‑quality, ambitious EYFS curriculum
  • Ensure children achieve strong outcomes across all areas of learning, with a clear focus on achievement
  • Monitor progress, attainment and learning through observations, assessments and data analysis
  • Ensure teaching and learning are well‑sequenced, inclusive and support school readiness
  • Role model outstanding practice daily within rooms, supporting practitioners in real time
  • Work in partnership with the Nursery Manager to embed high standards consistently across practice
  • Continually reflect on practice to identify and drive continuous improvement to deliver high quality care and education for all children and staff.
  • Implement the Nursery Code Curriculum to ensure a child‑centred approach to operating all aspects of the nursery and ensure the observation and planning process meets the needs of all children in line with the regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with the Local Authority and understand the local offer to support the practice in all areas of the nursery Ofsted, Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure the nursery meets a minimum of Ofsted “Good”, with the ambition of achieving “Outstanding
