The Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary Head of Projects to provide strategic leadership and oversight across civil infrastructure projects within a nuclear framework. This senior role is accountable for the successful delivery of a portfolio of complex, high-value projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and organizational strategy. The Head of Projects will drive excellence in project governance, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership, while embedding a culture of safety, compliance, and innovation across all project activities.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Define and implement project delivery strategies across the nuclear civil infrastructure portfolio.
  • Provide direction and oversight to Senior Project Managers, Design Managers, and delivery teams.
  • Align project outcomes with organizational goals, client expectations, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Governance & Oversight
  • Establish and maintain robust project governance structures, reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project management practices and frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as the senior interface with clients, regulators, contractors, and government bodies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support project success.
  • Represent the organization at industry forums, regulatory reviews, and strategic meetings.
  • Commercial & Financial Management
  • Oversee budgets, financial performance, and commercial risk across the project portfolio.
  • Lead contract negotiations, framework agreements, and procurement strategies.
  • Ensure value engineering and cost efficiency are embedded in program delivery.
  • Risk & Compliance
  • Identify and mitigate strategic risks across multiple projects.
  • Ensure strict adherence to nuclear safety standards, environmental regulations, and HSE policies.
  • Champion compliance with industry codes of practice and regulatory frameworks.
  • Leadership & People Development
  • Inspire, mentor, and develop project leaders and teams.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional excellence.
  • Drive succession planning and talent development within the project management function.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (Chartered status preferred).
  • 15+ years’ experience in project leadership within civil infrastructure, ideally in nuclear or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex project portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear safety standards, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance processes.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and digital delivery tools (e.g., Primavera P6, BIM platforms).
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to lead at portfolio level.
  • Strong commercial acumen and contract management expertise.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence at executive and regulatory levels.
