A leading recruitment agency is seeking a highly experienced Head of Project Engineering to lead engineering design and execution for major projects in Qatar. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, including LNG projects, and strong leadership capabilities. Responsibilities include overseeing contractors and ensuring project milestones are met. This position offers a full-time contract for 36 months with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications

Position Title: Head of Project Engineering

Location: Qatar Onshore - 100%

Contract Term: 36 months (with possibility of extension)

Working Hours: 10 hours/day, 6 days/week, 26 days/month

Start Date: January 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Project Engineering to lead engineering design and execution for the North Field South & West (NFS/NFW) Onshore Major Projects. This senior role will oversee EPC/FEED contractors and sub‑contractors, ensuring engineering deliverables meet project milestones, budgets, and quality standards. The role involves close coordination with on‑site Project Management Teams to support procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead multi‑discipline project engineering activities and coordinate with EPC/FEED contractors to meet milestones and budgets.
  • Support Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams to ensure integrated execution plans.
  • Monitor execution performance using KPIs, providing regular delivery reports and identifying early interventions when necessary.
  • Evaluate interdisciplinary dependencies and apply risk management techniques to facilitate decision‑making.
  • Champion project safety and ensure compliance with NFW Onplot Safety Program principles, leading safety culture initiatives.
  • Manage design change processes, documenting risks and ensuring effective implementation.
  • Conduct equipment testing, site visits, and fabrication assessments, ensuring quality, schedule, and safety standards are met.
  • Provide leadership and alignment across stakeholder groups to drive project decisions and execution efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the Oil & Gas industry, including major LNG projects.
  • Supervisory experience overseeing contractor/sub‑contractor engineering teams.
  • Proven experience in engineering leadership, multi‑discipline coordination, and design safety management.
  • Knowledge of large process unit design and LNG facility operations.
  • Experience with major EPC/FEED contractors in Lump Sum contract environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead and influence across organizational levels.
  • Field engineering experience is desirable.
