Head of PIM Engineering

A newly created exciting opportunity to join the PIM (Pension Investment Management) team as the Head of PIM Engineering. This is a permanent opportunity based in our London office (hybrid working).

The role

As the Head of PIM Engineering you will be responsible for building and maintaining stable and scalable Investment & Client focused systems and applications that enhance decision making for the PIM business. Within this role you will ensure that the technology platform is aligned with the business technology strategy whilst you actively communicate, educate and champion technology direction and decisions to the wider team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a high-performing engineering team, with a focus on leadership rather than hands-on development or coding.

The person

We are looking for someone with significant demonstrable experience of leading large-scale, complex and distributed applications development of Cloud-native solutions. You’re highly proficient in multiple languages (i.e. C#, Python, Typescript, SQL etc.) and have excellent knowledge and understanding of software design/architectural concepts (e.g. Event-driven Architecture, Microservices, Domain-driven design, SOLID, DRY, SoC, etc). You’re also familiar with frameworks like Node.js, Angular etc, API’s such as SOAP, REST, and containers and building containers like Docker.

An industry background of working in highly regulated, compliant, certified financial services environments is essential. You’ll also have a strong understanding of ISO27001, Cybersecurity and Secure software development lifecycles. Experience of Agile, Waterfall and hybrid approaches to delivering across the entire SDLC is required and you’ll be adept at managing agile ceremonies and practices.

In this key leadership role, you’ll bring proven experience of leading cross functional teams of technologists, and the capability to mentor their growth, development and learning. You’ll have the ability to navigate the unknown and lead from the front to drive solutions, whilst fostering your continuous learning mindset throughout the engineering team. Highly experienced in managing senior stakeholders, you’re adept at building trusted collaborative relationships and delivering end-to-end outcomes that truly meet client and business needs.
