Overview

Title: Head of Governance

Location: Our Trust office is based in Beckenham, Kent but there is extensive scope for working from home. The post-holder may also be required to travel to our Trust's schools, which are all based in the London Borough of Bromley.

Salary: NJC PO5 (SCP 38-41) £52,194-£55,323 per annum. We may be open to offering a higher salary for candidates who bring significant skills or experience to the role. This role also includes access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, which is a defined benefit scheme.

Contract: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full-time 36 hours per week, all year round but we will also consider part-time / term-time only working for the right candidate.

Reports to: Deputy CEO

Responsible for: Clerking and Compliance Manager and School Local Governing Body Clerk(s) (currently two staff in total)

Start Date: January 2026 but earlier starts welcome.

About you

We are looking for a dedicated Head of Governance to join our Trust, to work across the Trust's schools to provide highly effective governance support and advice to the Trust Chair, Trust Board and Chief Executive.

The role requires a strong knowledge of governance, and experience with policies and procedures relating to schools. We are looking for somebody who is self-motivated with strong attention to detail, and who is able to work as part of a team as well as working confidently with senior leaders. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of governance within the Trust and build on the provision which is already in place.
