Job Description:

Equifind is recruiting a Head of Finance for a startup trading firm based in the City of London.

You’ll be joining a small, close-knit team as the first dedicated finance hire, giving an experienced finance leader a great platform to build a high-performing function from the ground up.

Founded by a group of highly successful traders from major institutions and now backed by top-tier names in investment banking and venture capital, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business at an exciting stage.

This role will be key in setting up robust financial processes, managing accounting and treasury functions, and supporting investor and board reporting. You’ll be working side-by-side with the leadership team to provide critical financial insights and help scale a dynamic business that’s operating on a global level:

Key Duties:

  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts along with supporting dashboards
  • Assist the CEO with board materials, investor reporting, and fundraising activity
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations, manage cash flow, and lead the quarterly and annual budgeting and forecasting process
  • Hire, develop, and manage a small finance team, reviewing ledger entries, accounts payable, and receivables
  • Maintain robust internal financial controls and help shape financial policies and procedures
  • Liaise with external accountants to deliver year-end accounts and support the audit process
  • Annual bonus - % dependant on personal and company performance

Application Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Experience of working within a trade finance environment (commodities, shipping, logistics, banks etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualified experience in a similar role
  • Ready to take ownership and support at every level of the finance function
  • A background in trading, broking or trade finance would be beneficial
  • Advanced-level Excel skills and an interest in learning SQL, VBA or Python
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent report writing and able to confidently liaise with a range of stakeholders
  • Proven stakeholder management experience and relationship building skills
