Job description
Purpose of the role

The Head of Engineering is responsible for leading Edyn’s property engineering and maintenance function across all sites. This role ensures our hotels and serviced apartments operate safely, efficiently and sustainably, while delivering an outstanding guest experience. The role provides strategic direction on engineering, drives compliance with statutory requirements, and oversees planned and reactive maintenance programmes across the portfolio.

Key responsibilities
  • Leadership & Strategy Define and deliver the engineering and maintenance strategy across Edyn’s portfolio. Lead, inspire and develop property-based engineering teams and managers. Act as the subject-matter expert on engineering, maintenance and asset management for the business.
  • Operations & Maintenance Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance across the estate to ensure properties are safe, compliant and well-presented. Ensure all statutory compliance is met, including fire, life safety, gas, electric, water, and lift systems. Optimise the use of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) systems.
  • Capital Projects & Asset Management Partner with Development and Finance teams on capital expenditure planning, refurbishments and asset replacement programmes. Monitor property condition and lifecycle costs to protect and enhance asset value.
  • Sustainability & Efficiency Drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives in line with Edyn’s ESG goals. Identify opportunities to reduce utilities costs and improve environmental performance.
  • Health & Safety Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation. Act as the escalation point for engineering-related risk assessments, incidents, and audits.
  • Stakeholder Management Partner with Operations Directors, General Managers and Development teams to deliver engineering support that underpins excellent guest experience. Manage external contractors and service partners, ensuring strong SLAs and value for money.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven leadership experience in engineering and maintenance, ideally within hospitality, hotels, serviced apartments or multi-site property environments.
  • You must have led a team with at least 4 direct reports, and worked across at 6 European jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance (fire safety, gas, electrical, lifts, legionella, etc.).
  • Experience managing capital projects and asset lifecycle planning.
  • Track record of driving operational efficiencies and sustainability improvements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and contractor management skills.
  • Relevant technical qualifications (e.g. mechanical / electrical engineering, facilities management) desirable.
