Head of Data, BI & Analytics - Global Media Business £80-90k | Fully Remote (UK)
We're hiring a Head of Data for a global media and events business. You'll report to the exec team and own data, analytics and BI across the organisation.
You'll bridge the gap between raw data and commercial decisions. Think less "dashboard factory", more "strategic advisor who happens to work with data". Your job is to analyse complex datasets, extract the insights that matter, and explain what they mean for a business running global events.
You'll define the data strategy, set priorities, and decide what gets built, improved or retired. You'll also shape the roadmap for future capability, including when and how to hire.
Success here isn't measured in Looker dashboards. It's measured in whether the exec team acts on what you tell them.
The platform works. It's not broken, you're not walking into a mess. But you will be expected to challenge how insight gets delivered and evolve things where needed.
Current setup: Python, SQL, GCP, BigQuery, dbt, GitHub/Actions, Looker. Data comes from CRM, marketing platforms, event systems, web analytics and internal ops tools.
OpenAI experiments, RAG systems, internal agents. You'll figure out where AI actually adds value, shape the roadmap, and eventually bring on an AI Engineer when the time's right.
You've run data end-to-end in a smaller or mid-sized company. Your title might be Head of Data, Data Lead, BI Manager, Senior or Lead Analytics Engineer.
You're comfortable across data engineering, modelling, analytics and BI, but your real strength is making sense of the data and explaining it clearly. You like ownership, autonomy, and rolling your sleeves up when needed.
Strong communication is non-negotiable. You need to influence senior leaders and translate technical complexity into commercial clarity. Media or events experience helps but isn't required.
This isn't a pure engineering role. It's not for someone who needs a large team structure or wants a narrow remit. It's broad, senior, and requires adaptability.
This is a genuine opportunity to own data strategy, shape how insight drives decisions at exec level, and build out AI capability in a business with global reach.
