The Head of Contracts and Governance will lead a dedicated team responsible for Contract Management, Projects Controls and Quality Management across the Centrica Power project life-cycle. The role ensures effective governance, robust controls and clear performance reporting in line with agreed frameworks, policies and regulatory requirements.
This role supports the development, negotiation, and oversight of delivery contracts across Centrica Power, whilst strengthening control, oversight, governance and assurance across the delivery of major energy and infrastructure projects. The role works closely with commercial development teams, project managers/ delivery leads, group functions such as Procurement, Finance and Legal, and integrates with existing Group governance activities to support robust investment and delivery decisions.
This role will be based out of our UK Windsor office and offers hybrid working.
The role is accountable across the whole portfolio of Centrica Power projects for overseeing the management of contracts in execution and ensuring robust governance and control of projects through the project life-cycle. Currently, the overall portfolio value is c.a. £350m. Through 2026 this is expected to increase to £bn scale across a number of opportunities. Role accountabilities will include:
Contract and Supply Chain Management
Support the business in the preparation, negotiation, and finalisation of contractual agreements including EPC, O&M, Land agreements and inter-company contracts
Liaise with the supply chain and internal stakeholders (Project Managers, procurement, legal, finance, etc) to ensure contract compliance and delivery risk mitigation across the portfolio of projects
Maintain a contract management system with templates and frameworks for consistency and efficiency
Define and oversee contractual quality requirements and supplier assurance arrangements, ensuring quality plans, acceptance criteria and compliance obligations are embedded within contracts and effectively managed across the supply chain.
Develop and implement governance and controls frameworks including stage-gates, templates, reporting and assurance requirements
Provide oversight of project controls activities including cost, schedule, risk and performance reporting
Support end to end project lifecycle governance across development, delivery and into operations to ensure compliance, transparency and audit readiness
Ensure alignment with Centrica corporate governance standards and regulatory obligations.
Develop and oversee controls frameworks to manage project, contract/ commercial, financial compliance, and regulatory risks
Support internal reviews, audits and readiness reviews for major projects
Interface with Group governance forums, including Investment Committee and Contracts Committee to ensure a consistent and robust governance approach.
Lead and develop the multi-disciplinary team across contract management, project controls and quality
Collaborate with project teams, legal, procurement and external partners to support delivery outcomes
Provide governance and contractual input to strategic initiatives including asset acquisitions, joint ventures and organic deployments.
Proven experience at senior level across contract & commercial management, project controls and/or project delivery roles within the energy or infrastructure sector
Strong expertise in contract and supply chain management with demonstrable experience across high value (£100m-£1bn) asset delivery
Strong understanding of end-to-end project and investment lifecycles
Experience developing and operating governance and control frameworks
Understanding of UK and EU energy regulatory frameworks
Familiarity with contract management, governance and project controls tools
Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
