Job description
Join Our Team as Head of Commercial Finance

At Boots Hearingcare, everything we do is about improving lives through better hearing. As part of the Sonova Group, we draw on global innovation and clinical expertise, while remaining grounded in the communities we serve through our partnership with Boots across the UK.

We are entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation - with new store formats, evolving customer journeys and a renewed focus on performance, data and insight. To support this, we are strengthening our finance leadership team.

About the Role

We’re looking for a commercial, forward‑thinking and influential Head of Commercial Finance who can provide clarity, challenge and strategic insight.

This isn’t a reporting‑only role. It is hands‑on, business‑facing and plays a central role in shaping commercial decisions across the business.

You’ll lead a small, capable finance team and partner closely with senior leaders across Commercial, Marketing, Sales, Retail Operations and Supply Chain - helping us understand performance, optimise profitability and confidently allocate investment.

This role suits someone who enjoys solving problems, translating complexity into clarity, influencing decisions, and improving how the business uses data. Someone who instinctively asks “what’s really driving this?” - and can help others see it too.

What You’ll Lead, Influence & Deliver
  • Partner with business leaders to shape commercial decisions, pricing strategy, promotional effectiveness and investment priorities.
  • Own our financial forecasting and planning framework, ensuring it is accurate, forward‑looking and trusted across the organisation.
  • Lead the development of financial models to evaluate store performance, new openings, relocations and World of Hearing expansion.
  • Provide clear, concise insight on trading performance, customer trends and sales drivers.
  • Manage the end‑to‑end budgeting, forecasting and month‑end reporting cycle for Sales and related costs, working closely with the wider Finance team.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Finance team (with the Finance Controller) to build capability, confidence and commercial understanding.
  • Drive continuous improvement in how we report and interpret performance - simplifying where possible and automating where beneficial.
  • Influence key operational decisions, ensuring financial consequences are understood and balanced with customer and colleague impact.
Benefits at Boots Hearingcare
  • Hybrid working: A mix of office and home‑based working
  • Boots Discount Card: Receive exclusive discounts on a wide range of products at Boots stores.
  • Free hearing aids if you need them as an employee!
  • Free Flu Vaccine: Stay healthy with free flu vaccines available at Boots Pharmacies & discounted for family members
  • Pension Scheme: Secure your future with our comprehensive pension scheme.
  • Flexible Benefit Box: Access our flexible benefit box to tailor benefits to suit your individual needs.
  • Life Assurance Cover: Gain peace of mind with life assurance cover.
  • Long Service Awards: Be recognised for your dedication with long service awards.
  • Generous Annual Leave: Start with 25 days of annual leave, increasing with length of service to a maximum of 30 days, plus bank holidays.
  • Telus: Access Telus, a confidential support network offering help and advice on matters both in and outside of work.
What You Bring
  • Is a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • Has commercial finance / business partnering experience, ideally in a multi‑site, retail, healthcare or consumer environment.
  • Is highly accomplished in financial modelling and Excel, with the ability to create clarity from complexity.
  • Communicates clearly, confidently and credibly – including to non‑finance stakeholders.
  • Can challenge respectfully, influence decisions and build strong collaborative relationships.
  • Enjoys leading through others – coaching, developing and motivating teams.
  • Has a continuous improvement mindset – not just reporting what happened but helping shape what happens next.
