Actian is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team in Watford, UK. You will write code, architect backend systems, and lead by example, leveraging AI coding agents to multiply output without sacrificing quality.

You will own the technical execution of your team, focusing on scalable SaaS backend architectures with a modern stack (Scala, Python, TypeScript) and close product collaboration to ship value fast.

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Strong production experience with Scala; Python or TypeScript a plus.
• Proven ability to leverage AI coding agents to boost output while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution across backend services.
• Guide the team in Scala, Python and TypeScript for robust data systems.
• Advocate and use AI coding agents to accelerate delivery.
• Own technical execution and ensure multi-tenant cloud scalability.
• Mentor and unblock a 3-4 engineer team through code reviews.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to translate ideas into tasks.
• Ensure production health and secure, efficient cloud operations.
• Drive velocity and remove blockers to hit milestones.
