Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a small, hands-on engineering team based near Bedford. You will work on R&D projects from concept through to completion, including shop floor involvement, testing and production support.

You will design new machinery and re-engineer existing equipment, prototype-test ideas and collaborate with production and sales. Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential, with opportunities to expand into electrical and software areas.

Qualifications

• Working on design projects from concept through to completion.
• Competent using SolidWorks as your primary 3D modeling package.
• Worked closely with production and test (DfMA).
• BOMs, materials selection to include stainless steel, aluminum and mild steel.

Responsibilities

• Detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Re-engineer existing machinery to enhance design, manufacturing efficiency, durability, cost down, GD&T and weights and balance etc.
• Prototype testing
• Internal stakeholder management with production and sales
