Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the end-to-end design of machinery—from concept to manufacture. You’ll work hands-on on the shop floor and with production, contributing to R&D and testing in a small, experienced team based near Bedford.

You’ll rely on SolidWorks for 3D modeling, manage projects from cradle to grave, and collaborate with production and sales. An HND or B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; expect involvement with GD&T, BOMs, material

Qualifications

• Experience in detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Ability to prototype and test designs on the shop floor.
• Experience re-engineering machinery for manufacturability, durability and cost reduction.
• Familiarity with BOMs and material selection (stainless steel, aluminium, mild steel).

Responsibilities

• Detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Re-engineer existing machinery to enhance design, manufacturing efficiency, durability, cost down, GD&T and weights and balance etc.
• Prototype testing.
• Internal stakeholder management with production and sales.
