Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer based in Bedford. You will work on R&D projects from concept through to completion, with hands-on activity on the shop floor including production and testing.

You will design new machines and re-engineer existing ones, balancing quality, weight and cost while collaborating across production and sales teams. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer seeking variety.

Qualifications

• Design machines from concept to completion.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and eager to learn similar tools.
• Experience with production and testing (DfMA).
• Experience with BOMs and material selection (stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel).

Responsibilities

• Detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Re-engineer existing machinery to improve design, manufacturing efficiency and durability.
• Prototype testing.
• Coordinate with production and sales teams.
