Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection in Bedford is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on R&D projects from concept to completion, with hands-on involvement on the shop floor and in testing. You will contribute from design through to production, collaborating with a small, experienced team.

The role emphasizes design execution, prototype testing, and ongoing learning across mechanical, electrical and software aspects in a dynamic, smaller company environment.

Qualifications

• Experience on design projects from concept through to completion.
• SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling package experience.
• Experience with production and testing (DfMA).
• Knowledge of BOMs and materials selection.

Responsibilities

• Detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Re-engineer existing machinery to improve design, manufacturing efficiency and cost.
• Prototype testing.
• Collaborate with production and sales on projects.
