Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection in Bedford seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on R&D projects from concept through to completion, not just in the design office but hands-on with production and machinery testing. You will contribute to a small, responsive team and help deliver bespoke machinery for various sectors.

The role combines design with shop-floor involvement, including testing, assembly and factory acceptance.

Qualifications

• Experience designing machinery from concept through to completion.
• SolidWorks proficiency and willingness to learn.
• Experience working with production and testing.
• Knowledge of materials selection (stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel).

Responsibilities

• Detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Re-engineer existing machinery to enhance design, manufacturing efficiency, durability, cost down, GD&T and weights and balance, etc.
